Biomarker Data Information

GENERAL INFORMATION

As this phase of the project deals primarily on gathering experimental data sets in the genomics/proteomics area, the major initial focus should be collecting data sets that the PCABC can host in our 3 organ sites (Prostate, Breast, Melanoma).

The order of preference of the types of data would be:

1. Microarray data sets on these organ types.
2. Proteomics data sets on these organ types.
3. Data sets from other assays or methods on these organ types.
4. Any combination of the above data sets for OTHER organ types.

NOTE: The data types can range from Gene Expression Microarray, Protein Microarray, Proteomics-SELDI, Proteomics-Luminex, SAGE, or other genomics/proteomics/molecular data. The ANY cancer types studied can be included (i.e. pancreas, lung, ovary, astrocytoma, etc.) using human tissue or mouse models.

HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR DATA? (PUBLIC vs. RESTRICTED ACCESS):

We will allow data to be placed in two categories:

• Publicly accessible data sets. These files will be open to the general public via the PCABC website [www.pcabc.upmc.edu].
• Data restricted to PCABC members only. These data sets are not published but sharable to Internal PCABC members in hopes of building collaborations amongst the member sites. These data sets will be accessed only by using a password protected link via the PCABC website.

WHAT IS A PROJECT

This tool will allow anyone to upload their data files and organize them into a project folder. You can name your project folder with enough information so that you can distinguish it from other similar projects.

EXAMPLE:
Project 1: Prostate microarray data - Director's challenge
Project 2: Prostate microarray data - Metastatic study

WHAT KINDS OF FILES SHOULD BE UPLOADED?

1. A "readme.txt" file is REQUIRED for every project. This file should state:
   1. Project title.
   2. Name and contact information of Principle Investigator of project.
   3. What kind of data set is submitted (i.e. Microarray, SAGE, etc.).
   4. References to any publications, etc regarding this data set.
   5. List of files submitted with this project. (Both raw files and analyzed files should be submitted).
2. Raw files of your data sets.
3. Analyzed files of your data sets.
